If you want to learn how to beat Heidne in Octopath Traveler 0 in the Sunshade region, I can give you a complete rundown on how to make it happen. Heidne appears right when you get to Sunshade, so you can’t miss her. She’s pretty tough if you’re new to the Octopath Traveler series like me.
First, check out my video to see my strategy up close:
Alright, here are some tips I learned after fighting her because I did this the hard way.
- Her weaknesses are Spear, Axe, Bow, Ice, and Light for the Sunshade fight
- While she’s attacking normally, use normal attacks to build up your Boost.
- Keep doing this and healing when your HP gets low. She’s strong as hell.
- When she goes into Overdrive mode, unleash your Boost and attack with her weakness consecutively. Do not use a Skill. Just attack in rapid succession normally to put her in Break. This will daze her.
- Then, unleash every skill with the leftover Burst you have for her weaknesses.
- Do not let her use her finishing move in Overdrive as every single party member will take hard damage.
All you have to do is rinse and repeat, and you can more or less defeat her without anyone dying. But I recommend bringing lots of items and fighting her with your party at least on Level 25.
Oh, and once you’re done with her, you get no EXP. So, you did all that work for nothing.
But, she’s still a pretty cool boss.

Dante is Editor-in-Chief (Lord Hokage), which means he runs editorial and operations at BrandAnime. That means this whole thing was his idea, and he spends his time making stuff work and covering the latest anime and games. When he's not doing 100 things at once, he's usually... watching anime or playing games. His life isn't that interesting, honestly.
