The official third trailer for the anime Nippon Sangoku has been released, providing several key cast members and the series’ ending theme song.
In a near-future Japan where civilization has collapsed due to a revolution caused by nuclear war, natural disasters, and misgovernment, the country is divided into three, entering the Three Kingdoms era where power struggles ensue.
Seiki Misumi, a humble local official, aims for “Japan’s reunification,” and rises through the ranks with his vast knowledge and eloquent speaking skills.
The legend of the man who would later be hailed as a brilliant strategist begins—!
The new trailer really drives home the intense atmosphere we can expect from the show. What stands out most is the ending theme, “Chikai” by Leina, which she wrote to reflect the “beliefs” and “oaths” of the characters struggling in this world.
What makes Nippon Sangoku so compelling is how it balances high-stakes military strategy with raw, gritty human emotion. The new trailer highlights a world on the brink, where factions are fighting for military power and characters are plotting to completely seize control of the authority held by others. I love that this it’s a deep dive into the “beliefs” and “oaths” that drive people to risk everything in a fractured Japan.
Additional cast information has also been released. Joining the project are Kenyu Horiuchi as Hei Yamakichi, Shuichiro Umeda as Nagao Taketo Jun, Shunsuke Sakino as Kura Akii, and Ayumu Murase as Hiradono Tsugumi. Horiuchi-san remarked on how the series makes you think deeply about “why humans must fight,” while Murase-san shared how the unpredictable nature of the original story completely floored him.
