Independent studio Mad Pumpkins has announced that Movierooms: Cinema Management will now launch in Steam Early Access on March 17, slightly delaying its original release window. The game will be priced at $14.99 USD / EUR, with a 15% discount available for the first two weeks.

Blending classic tycoon mechanics with a narrative celebration of film history, Movierooms: Cinema Management places players in the role of a cinema manager tasked with building and expanding their theater business across multiple eras. From early nickelodeons to modern multiplexes, players design rooms, hire staff, curate film lineups, and balance scheduling decisions based on trends, reviews, and audience behavior.

One of the game’s defining features is its Historical Mode. In this story-driven campaign, cinema history has been disrupted, scattering iconic filmmakers and actors across time. Guided by Gaspard, an animated statuette reminiscent of a classic awards trophy, players must complete missions to restore these figures to their rightful eras before their films disappear entirely.

In addition to strategic programming and staff management, players can improve hygiene, comfort, and technology to grow their theater’s reputation, attract VIP visitors, and transform a small venue into a full-scale cinema empire. For those who prefer unlimited creativity, Sandbox Mode offers unrestricted access to customization tools and equipment.

Game Producer and Creative Director Arianna Lona described the project as “a journey through film history,” emphasizing that the game has been shaped alongside community feedback throughout development.

Developed by a seven-person international team spanning Italy, France, and Portugal, Mad Pumpkins aims to merge entertainment with cultural awareness, a philosophy that is clearly reflected in Movierooms: Cinema Management.

The game launches in Steam Early Access on March 17.
