In the “Crash Course” quest, you join Kaeya to investigate the Temple of the Wolf, aiming to disrupt Stormterror’s power source.
This guide provides a detailed walkthrough to help you navigate the temple, utilize elemental strategies, and secure valuable rewards.
Quest Details
- Quest Name: Crash Course
- Quest Type: Archon Quest
- Chapter: Prologue: Act I – The Outlander Who Caught the Wind
- Location: Temple of the Wolf, Mondstadt
- Quest Giver: Kaeya
- Recommended Level: 5
Objectives
- Meet Kaeya at the temple.
- Enter the Temple of the Wolf.
- Explore the temple’s depths.
- Destroy Stormterror’s crystal.
Walkthrough
1. Meet Kaeya at the Temple

Head to the Temple of the Wolf, located northeast of Mondstadt near the Falcon Coast. Kaeya awaits outside the temple entrance. Engage in conversation to learn about the mission and the challenges ahead.
2. Enter the Temple of the Wolf

Approach the temple door and interact to access the domain selection screen. Choose “Deep Within the Temple of the Wolf.” Kaeya will temporarily join your party as a trial character, bringing his Cryo abilities into play.
3. Explore the Temple’s Depths

Inside the temple, you’ll encounter various obstacles and enemies:
- Hilichurl Encounter: Descend the stairs to find hilichurls in shallow water. Use Kaeya’s Elemental Skill, Frostgnaw, to freeze them, taking advantage of the Hydro-Cryo interaction.
- Flamethrower Traps: Proceed to areas with active flamethrower devices. Utilize Kaeya’s Frostgnaw to disable these traps temporarily, allowing safe passage.
- Wind Currents: Activate mechanisms to generate wind currents. Use these to glide across gaps and reach elevated platforms.
- Pyro Slimes Encounter: In rooms with Pyro Slimes, look for Hydro Amber objects. Destroying these will cause rain, applying the Wet status to enemies. Follow up with Kaeya’s Cryo attacks to freeze them, making combat more manageable.
- Underwater Spikes: Certain pathways are obstructed by water-covered spikes. Use Kaeya’s Frostgnaw to freeze the water, creating an ice bridge to cross safely.
4. Destroy Stormterror’s Crystal

At the temple’s end, you’ll find a crystal emanating Stormterror’s energy. Attack and destroy it to disrupt the elemental flow, completing the primary objective.
