The 2005 GameCube classic, Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance, is now a part of the Nintendo GameCube Nintendo Classics for Nintendo Switch 2.

Check out the trailer:

For those who don’t know, this game features Ike as the main character. The very same Ike from Super Smash Bros. Ike is an unsociable legendary swordsman with a special ability called “Celestial”.

With Ike aside, this game marked a turning point in the Fire Emblem series on GameCube. Some core mechanics remain, such as if you die in battle, you can’t be revived. But, as consistent with the GameCube console, this entry has 3D maps and full voiceover movies. This is the ninth overall installment of the Fire Emblem series, and after the rapid success of Fire Emblem: The Blazing Blade in the West, this was planned and released on GameCube:

This installment of the classic strategy role-playing series Fire Emblem was released for the Nintendo GameCube system in 2005. Fully-voiced cutscenes and 3D maps accompany the return of the brutal battle system where your units are gone for good if they fall in a fight! On the continent of Tellius, two races (the human beorc and the half-human laguz) have built a history of strife, mistrust, and compromise. Now, sinister forces emerge from the shadows to pit the two groups against each other. Follow the protagonist Ike and a colorful cast of characters as this grand drama unfolds around them. Dark days are rising…

If you’re interested in playing this game, you’ll need to subscribe to the Nintendo Switch Online + Add-on Pack. This subscription makes it possible to play other GameCube classics, such as: The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker,” “F-ZERO GX,” and “Luigi’s Mansion.
