The new anime series, The Drops of God, is set to release in 2026:
Here’s how Kodansha USA describes this piece of art:
Yutaka Kanzaki, a wine critic whose reviews have enough clout to move the industry worldwide, has died—leaving behind a wine collection worth over two billion yen. Only the one who can name his favorite bottles, plus vintages, will inherit this dream of a cellar. It’s a battle between Yutaka’s biological son Shizuku and adopted child Issei to identify these “Twelve Apostles”—along with the very best wine in his collection, the so-called “Drops of God.”
Yeah, you read that right.
We’ve got a high-brow anime series about wine and intrigue.
This series has a lot of history, actually.
- Tadashi Agi (writer) and Shu Okimoto (illustrator) wrote the original manga, which ran 44 volumes in Kodansha’s Weekly Morning from 2004 to 2014.
- The sequel, Drops of God: Mirage, also ran 24 volumes in Weekly Morning from 2015 to 2020.
- The last manga series, called Drops of God deuxième, ran two volumes in Weekly Morning from September 2023 to April 2024.
And that’s not all.
Other adapations include a 2008 Korean drama, the 2009 Japanese drama, and a Apple TV+ 2023 drama.
The sudio Satelight cast for this upcoming anime are:
- Kazuya Kamenashi returning as Shizuku Kanzaki
- Maaya Uchida (Angel Devil in Chainsaw Man) as Miyabi Shinohara
- Takuya Sato (Caesar Zeppeli in JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure) as Issei Tomine.
- Kenji Itoso (AQUARION Myth of Emotions) is the director
- Yuu Mitsuru is the series composition and script writer
- Takehiro Suwa is the character designer
- Eishi Segawa is in charge of music

Dante is Editor-in-Chief (Lord Hokage), which means he runs editorial and operations at BrandAnime. That means this whole thing was his idea, and he spends his time making stuff work and covering the latest anime and games. When he's not doing 100 things at once, he's usually... watching anime or playing games. His life isn't that interesting, honestly.
