My Nod-Krai Predictions: This is the Gateway, Not a Detour

Is Nod-Krai just a detour? We don't think so. Here are our Genshin predictions for Nod-Krai — from Varka’s reveal to a confrontation with Dottore and a glimpse at the Tsaritsa.

With Nod-Krai confirmed as Genshin Impact’s next playable region, there’s been a lot of speculation about whether it’s a detour before we reach Snezhnaya properly.

But I don’t think this is filler. In fact, I think Nod-Krai is going to be one of the most content-rich and plot-heavy updates we’ve ever seen.

This isn’t Enkanomiya or the Chasm — this is the beginning of the endgame.

Not Just Side Content — It’s a Stage for Confrontation

Nod-Krai might be geographically separate from Snezhnaya’s capital, but narratively, it feels like the perfect pressure point for something bigger. The Fatui are still central, and I fully expect us to confront one of the Harbingers directly — likely Dottore.

He’s long overdue for a proper arc resolution, and Nod-Krai, with its rumored focus on ancient experimentation and fractured authority, could be the place where we finally:

  • Learn more about Dottore’s origin
  • See internal Fatui cracks
  • Witness one heavyweight Harbinger fall

Whether Dottore is defeated or simply removed from the board, it’s time for one of these larger-than-life villains to face consequences.

Mavuika literally confirmed that the Fatui were here. If there is anyone who will be here to unlock some secrets and harness forbidden moon power, it’s Dottore.

I simply don’t believe the Traveler is ready to face the Tsaritsa yet as he’s still nowhere near the top four Harbringers. He’s needs a natural level-up here.

Meeting Grandmaster Varka — Finally

This region is also the most natural place for the Traveler to finally meet Grandmaster Varka. His name has been floating around since Mondstadt, and HoYoverse loves slow-burn payoffs.

Nod-Krai, with its militaristic tension and possible connections to old Mondstadt figures, feels like the right setting to bring him in — not just as a side character, but as a major player.

If Varka’s involved, this isn’t just political. It’s personal.

UPDATE:

Varka is indeed in Nod-Krai:

A Glimpse of the Tsaritsa

One more thing: the Tsaritsa. We probably won’t reach her throne room yet, but this is the perfect place for a first glimpse.

Maybe it’s a transmission. Maybe it’s her watching us through a mirror. Maybe it’s just her voice.

But after all this time, I don’t think HoYoverse can justify a full region set in the southern territories of Snezhnaya without teasing the goddess who controls it all.

Slowing Down Isn’t Stalling — It’s Lore Management

Some players have called Nod-Krai a stall — a way to delay reaching Snezhnaya. But I think that’s missing the point. In fact, the developers themselves admitted that the main story was moving too fast. And honestly, they were right.

This journey hasn’t been about “finding our sibling” in a long time. Fontaine shattered that idea the moment it pulled the curtain back on the Heavenly Principles — revealing something much bigger than a family reunion.

And now with Natlan revealing what happens when humans defy the natural order, it’s clear Genshin’s story has grown into something far more complex than when we started in Mondstadt.

HoYoverse has spent five nations building an incredibly dense mythos — gods, false skies, forbidden knowledge, divine rebellion — and they’re finally hitting a point where they need to slow down and unpack it.

That’s what Nod-Krai is: not a stall, but a moment to breathe, reflect, and escalate properly. If this is truly the final arc before Snezhnaya, Celestia, and the climax of the Traveler’s story, then it deserves to be carefully built — not rushed.

So… What Is Nod-Krai Really?

If I had to sum it up?

Nod-Krai isn’t a detour. It’s a trigger.
It will kick off the final act of Genshin Impact’s current arc — giving us:

  • A Harbinger showdown
  • The long-awaited Varka reveal
  • Direct movement toward the Tsaritsa
  • And a flood of new lore, systems, and possibly weekly bosses

This region will be dense — narratively and mechanically — not filler. And if HoYoverse follows their own escalation pattern, Nod-Krai won’t feel like the quiet before the storm.

It will be the storm.
