Our Grand Master Varka has been released in Genshin Impact version Luna V alongside our first free weapon skin, Unbreakable: Durandarte (the Stygian Onslaught weapon skin doesn’t count because how impossible it is for F2P players). While it was shown in the previous livestream, the game itself does not show Travelers on how to obtain it in Genshin Impact. This guide will show you the location to get this weapon skin, and tips on how to defeat the boss inside the domain.
How To Get Varka Exclusive Weapon Skin Unbreakable: Durandarte in Genshin Impact
Weapon skin has becoming more common now in Genshin Impact. However, this is the first time a character will be getting an exclusive weapon skin, and our first character to get this special treatment is Varka! To get his weapon skin, you can head to The Homesick Lone Wolf Local Legend in Nod-Krai. Defeat the Local Legend so you can interact with the claymore stuck inside the rock behind it.
Choose to Face the Enemy when interacting with the claymore. Varka will be send towards a domain alone, and your teammates will not be able to help in battle. This is purely a battle of skills, especially since consumable is also not allowed in the battle.
How To Defeat Boreas’s Shadow
Since Varka is alone, Varka’s Skill will not able to infuse to other PHEC (Pyro/Hydro/Electro/Cryo) elements. At the start of the battle, you can only spam attacks and avoid incoming damage from Boreas. Remember that consumable is not usable so you can’t heal yourself.
One of the skill you need to be wary of is when Boreas creates a Cryo field. I recommend you stepping out of the Cryo field entirely instead of trying to dodge the spinning that Boreas will do afterwards. This is because even when we dodge perfectly, Varka will still take some damage. Other than this attack, you can focus on attacking and dodging until Boreas’s HP reaches 60%.
Once Boreas’s HP reaches 60%, he will start sprinting on the outside of the arena and run to your current location in a straight line. You can simply dodge this attack until the next phase.
Afterwards, Boreas will jump back to the center of the arena and summons 3 blocks of ice. You need to use Varka’s Hold Skill to jump on top of these ice blocks and collect the Pyro particles. Each of the particle will heal Varka, and collecting three particles will make Varka’s Skill to infuse into Pyro attacks. Then you can spam attacks until the blocks of ice disappeared.
You’re almost at the end! Now, Boreas will summon the Homesick Lone Wolf Local Legend to fight you, but its HP is low so don’t worry too much about it. In addition, Varka can also single-handedly destroy the clone it summons afterwards as he can deal both Anemo and Pyro damage.
After the Lone Wolf is defeated, there will be no more special mechanics, so you can focus on defeating Boreas until its HP completely goes down to 0. Don’t forget to collect the Pyro particles to heal Varka and get the Pyro infusion on his Skill.
When Boreas is defeated, a dialogue will automatically plays showing the lore of the weapon skin, featuring Roland and his final comrades. Finally, Varka will obtain the weapon skin (and also some free Primogems)! Make sure to manually change his weapon skin on the character interface.
This is the Varka build that I’m using to defeat Boreas (detailed build in the video below). He is only Level 79, with Talent 6/8/6. Just shows how you don’t need bombastic build to defeat Boreas. But you do need some skill to avoid the incoming damage so Varka will not die before he can get the Pyro particles, and also patience because it is a long battle.
