Spiral Abyss is updated every 16th and for November, many new enemies are added to the end-game as we arrive to the new area, Nod-Krai. By entering the abyss, you will challenge your team build against various enemies and mechanism, striving to get full 12 stars.

However, not everyone will have an easy time to collect the stars as newer players may have difficulty in understanding the mechanism of some enemies, or their builds are not perfect yet. This guide will help players to understand the enemies in floor 11 and 12, while recommending some teams that you can try.

Team Recommendations

Team Recommendations for the First Half

There are not many restrictions here because while some enemies have certain RES, you can still overcome it with raw damage. Except, you shouldn’t bring a Hydro DPS because there is a Hydro Phantasm in the last chamber that is completely immune to Hydro. In addition, it’s best if your DPS focuses on single-target instead of AoE because there is only one enemy in each wave in each chambers.

Team Recommendations for the Second Half

The first half is not recommended for Hydro DPS, while the second half is not recommended for Cryo DPS because of the multiple enemies with Cryo RES. In addition, you still want another DPS that focuses on single-target.

Chamber 1 – First Half

In the first and second wave, you will face the same enemies: Cutting Edge All-Purpose Storm Landcruiser. In each wave, the enemy will attack the Monolith. Fortunately, there’s only one enemy and no time limit. So once you attack it and trigger aggro, it will focus on you and ignore the Monolith.

Chamber 1 – Second Half

The same can be said here, there’s only one enemy here; Eroding Avatar of Lava. Just attack it to divert its attention from the Monolith and you can just focus on attacking it.

You see those Fury bar above their HP?
When the Eroding Avatar of Lava is attacked by a Pyro attack, it will gain a few percentage to fill the Fury bar. When the Fury bar reaches 20%, 40%, and 60%, it will take True Physical DMG e

qual to 25%, 20%, and 15% of its Max HP respectively.
When the Fury bar is full, the Eroding Avatar of Lava is automatically defeated. Of course, if you don’t bring any Pyro character to take advantage of this is also okay, but you have to brute force a little bit.

Chamber 2 – First Half

In the first wave, there is a single Ruin Grader. It’s alone and its big, so you can easily unleash everything to hit them. But be careful as it can sometime do a charge attack that will run in one direction.

While performing certain attacks, these enemies will expose the cores on its head/feet. Attacking one of the exposed weak points will interrupt their current attack. Successfully damaging the second weak point will temporarily paralyze the Ruin Grader for a few seconds. If you want, of course. If not, you can just brute force if your team can handle it.

In the second wave, there’s a single Wayob. As any other Wayob, this one will create an arena and absorb all your Energy until you break its shield. Before the Wayob can create that arena, use all remaining Elemental Burst you have (even better if they can deal continous off-field damage like Xiangling and Xingqiu’s Burst to destroy the Wayob’s shield) before the Wayob can absorb it.

If you didn’t manage to destroy the non-elemental shield within a short time, the Wayob will gain a Hydro shield. As long as you have a Dendro character, it should be okay. But if you destroy the non-elemental shield, you can gain LOTS of energy. When either shield is destroyed (non-elemental shield or Cryo shield), the Wayob Manifestation becomes paralyzed for 5 seconds.

Chamber 2 – Second Half

The second half is pretty similar to the first half. First, a Ruin Drake will spawn. At one point, Ruin Drake will charge (can be seen by two devices swirling on top of Ruin Drake’s body) before scattering bombs into the air. It’s highly recommended to attack its weak point at the head – glowing orange orbs – to paralyze the Ruin Drake.

If you fail to do so, after the bombs hit the ground, the Ruin Drake will gain 40% Resistance to the element it has received the most amount of damage from the beginning of the battle (you can see what elements it is from the color of the bombs).

The second wave is similar to the previous half where you need to fight a Wayob. Same as before, use any Elemental Burst you have before the Wayob absorb it. And do everything you can to destroy its shield to get the free Energies.

Chamber 3 – First Half

Do not bring a Hydro Main DPS to the battle. A Hydro Sub-DPS or Support is fine, but not Main DPS. It will significantly slow you down because the Water-Splitting Phantasm is immune to Hydro. But there is only one enemy here so once it spawns, focus all your firepower to this enemy and you should be fine. They will enter Enraged State from the start and will stay that way permanently. In this state, their attacks will be enhanced and become immune to being Frozen.

Chamber 3 – Second Half

There are many enemies here, but only one per wave, with a total of 3 waves. In the first and second waves, there is a Cryo and Geo Lawachurl. As the element suggests, they have high RES to their own elements. If you didn’t bring a team that can trigger Freeze reaction, try to save your Ultimate first because most of the times, the Lawachurl will lunge forward, making it easy for them to avoid your Ultimate, especially one that stuck in a place like Collei and Rosaria’s Ultimate.

The last wave feature an Assault Specialist Meka (Ousia). As usual, there’s only one, so you can focus on it. This enemy will deal Electro DMG, and you can use Fontaine characters that deal Pneuma attack to make it unable to use elemental attacks for a period of time. Not using the Arkhe attacks is also no big deal as you can just brute force.

  • Second Half – Characters’ Normal Attack Pyro DMG increased by 75%.

Team Recommendations

Team Recommendations for the First Half

For the first half, it’s recommended to bring characters with single-target damage, while also ensuring that the team has the ability to apply Hydro and Dendro for certain bosses. Specifically, Battle-Scarred Rock Crab in Chamber 1 that really needs you to trigger any Bloom-related reactions. Afterwards, it’s the Frostnight Herra and Wilderness enemies in Chamber 2 and 3. For them, prioritize characters with Lunar reaction so you can deal with the new enemies & mechanics.

Team Recommendations for the Second Half

Similar to the first half, this one also prefers single-target damage. But this time, you want to bring a Pyro element because of the Ley Line disorder while also giving you the advantage to break a Pyro shield of Coppelius in the first chamber and burning the fruits in second chamber. Next, Cryo and Geo shield are also highly recommended to counter the Primo Geovishap’s mechanic in Chamber 3. However, Cryo and Anemo DPS are not recommended because Coppelius has high RES against these elements.

Chamber 1 – First Half

In the first wave, you can find a Sternshield Crab in the middle of the area. It will has a Pyro shield right from the start, so it’s best if you bring along at least one Hydro character so you can easily destroy the shield as fast as possible because the next wave is more dangerous.

The second wave features Crab Tsar, or Battle-Scarred Rock Crab. Right from the start, the boss will float above, gain a shield, and drop Stoneborne Seeds in a circular pattern.

You need to trigger Bloom, Hyperbloom, Burgeon or Lunar-Bloom damage on those seeds so it will erupt and launch themselves to the Crab Tsar. Six of these seeds can instantly destroy the boss’s shield, and the best character to do it is Lauma’s Hold Skill. In addition to attacking the shield, the damage dealt by those seeds are scaled to the character’s EM so you can bet Lauma and Nefer will do a great job here. Once the Crab Tsar falls down, it will be stunned for ~4 seconds.

If you didn’t manage to destroy its shield with the seeds in time, the Stoneborne Seeds that are still on the ground will explode, dealing huge damage (even your shielded character will die).

Chamber 1 – Second Half

The first and second waves features specific Meka: Suppression Specialist Mek and Construction Specialist Mek. Truthfully, these two are only here to waste your time, esepcially since the third and last wave spawns a boss. So you should bring in your best single-target DPS to brute force the first two waves.

In the boss wave, the one you will be facing is Coppelius, the male counterpart that deals Anemo DMG. Coppelius is a Pneuma-type and can be paralyzed by Ousia characters like Chevreuse and Furina (but only during its Climax). The Ousia attack can also destroy its Cryo shield in one go just like in the picture above.
All of its attacks are a combination of Anemo and Cryo DMG, and you should be able to avoid them like usual in the open world or tank them with a shield.

The one you need to focus on is the Coppelius’s Climax. Coppelia and Coppelius will move to the center of the arena and initiate Climax: Create 3 Retributive Frosthearts that will periodically unleash blasts, dealing Cryo DMG. Those Frosthearts can’t be destroyed, so ignore them and focus on the Coppelius.

During the Climax, Coppelius will gain a Cryo shield. The shield can be damaged normally using Elemental Reactions (weakest to Pyro), but will also immediately break upon being hit by an Ousia attack. Hitting Coppelius with 3 Ousia attacks during a single Climax will interrupt the Climax and stun them for a short period of time.

Chamber 2 – First Half

Frostnight Herra is a new boss in version 6.1 while instantly make its appearance in the Spiral Abyss. Right off the bat after starting the challenge, it will use its Ultimate attack; go to the center of the arena and generates a Fury bar.
During the charging sequence, it will have high RES to all elements while also launcing wind blades in random directions. You need to interrupt this charging state within 10 seconds or it will enter an enhanced state.

You can fill the Fury bar with any regular attacks, and it will be filled even faster by using a Lunar Reaction. Once the bar is filled, the boss will become stunned for ~5 seconds and will gain a resistance to the element it took the highest total DMG from, becoming immune to it. However, if the majority of DMG taken was Physical or Lunar DMG, it will remain in normal state and will have no immunity to any elements.

Chamber 2 – Second Half

The second half also has one boss and its the Gluttonous Yumkasaur Mountain King. It has 70% Dendro RES, so try not to use Dendro DPS against this boss. This big boy mostly has a melee skill set, so try not to stray far away from it, unless you have a ranged DPS. If you do get too far away from it, the boss may use its tongue to swing itself to your location.

One of the two skills you need to be wary of is the Belly Spin (not an official name), where it will rapidly spin on top of its belly while approaching you. The damage itself is not astronomically high, but your character will be thrown back if you don’t have a shield set up beforehand.

Chamber 3 – First Half

The last chamber has two waves, and each wave has one enemy. In the first wave, you will be facing Wilderness Exile. While the second wave has a Wilderness Hunter. Both of them has the same mechanics so let’s combine both of them below.

Once reaching 0 health, these enemies will enter a Grief-Stricken state instead of dying immediately (It can also enter an early Grief-Stricken state without its HP being depleted to 0 after a nearby character uses an ability enhanced by Moonsign: Ascendant Gleam). In this state, these enemies will be able to take further DMG that depletes its Max HP instead of its current HP.

Depleted Max HP is indicated by a gray bar that fills from the right. When the Exile’s Max HP reaches 0, it will be defeated. The best strategy here is to bring Nod-Krai characters as their abilities enhanced by Ascendant Gleam will deal direct damage to the gray bar.

Chamber 3 – Second Half

The first wave only has a single mob to waste your time: Secret Source Automaton Hunter-Seeker. One of the mechanism you should be aware of is how Natlan character, when using Nightsoul’s Blessing state, will make the Automaton accumulate some points of Adaptive Countermeasures (the circle on top of HP bar). When it’s full, the enemy will use its laser attack. While the damage from the laser is quite high, it will also make the enemy’s RES to all DMG reduced to 10% instead of the normal 50%.

Really huge damage reduction when it just woke up

In the second wave, it’s the Primo Geovishap (Cryo Infusion). Remember that it has reduced damage when it just woke up so don’t waste your Elemental Burst yet. Also, bring along a shielder (preferably Geo or Cryo) because it has one special attack that you can take advantage of.

When the Primo Geovishap starts its Primordial Shower attack, the game will advise you to quickly generate a shield to block the incoming attack. When the attack connects with the shield, it will rebound back to the Primo Geovishap and deal a massive amount of damage back. If you don’t have a shield, use Elemental Burst to i-frame the attack.
The reason I mention Geo and Cryo shields are better is because:

  • If the shield’s element is Geo or the Primo Geovishap’s currently infused element (which is Cryo on this floor), the Geovishap will lose 15% Max HP.
  • A non-Geo shield not of the corresponding element will only cause it to lose 5% Max HP.
The boss won’t trigger the Ultimate if you’re behind it

Primo Geovishap will only perform the Primordial Shower attack when it is front-facing your character, so you can avoid this attack during shield downtime by constantly running behind it, and only bait this move once a shield is ready by running in front. If you don’t bring a shielder, you can certainly take advantage of this mechanic too!
