Flins is the second Lunar-Charged character (first is Ineffa) to come in Genshin Impact. But he is a DPS! His playstyle is a bit similar to Varesa where he gains a special Burst, and don’t need to use his normal Burst at all, unless C6. Check out this guide for Flins to give him the best weapon and artifacts that you have.

Flins Kit & Overview

Elemental Skill & Burst

Flins is has an extremely straight to the point kit, making it easier for even newbie to understand. First of all, let’s mention about his Skill. Once using his Skill, he will enter a Manifest Flame form. This form has the following effect:
➡️ Normal & Charged ATK now deals Electro DMG (cannot be overriden)
➡️ Interruption to resistance is increased
➡️ His normal Elemental Skill will be replaced with special Elemental Skill (IMPORTANT)
TLDR: Using his Skill will make him enter a special state and he will gain a special Skill and Burst.

Now that he enters the Manifest Flame form, you can activate his special Skill and Burst. Simply press E to activate the special Skill and then you can tap Q for the special Burst if you have enough Energy. At C0, you can do these special Skill and Burst twice per one normal Skill. In between the first and second special Burst, you need to use his full Normal ATK twice to wait for the cooldown to ends.

What about his normal Elemental Burst?
At C0, under normal circumstances, you don’t want to use it because it deals almost the same amount of damage as his special Burst that requires much less Energy and can be done twice. But if you’re a fan of his cool animation, then you can use it immediately after using his first Skill and entering the Manifest Flame form. But remember that you’re going to need a more ER than recommended below to make sure you can still get the 2 special Bursts going!

Rotation

Start by using all the supports’ Skill and Burst so Flins will get all the buffs he can. Then, do the following rotation:

Skill > Special Skill > Special Burst > Full Normal ATK x2 > Special Skill > Special Burst
TLDR: E > E > Q > NAx2 > E > Q

Flins Synergy & Team Compositions

If you had Nefer or experience in using her before, then let me tell you that Flins has a similar team compositions as her. This is because both of them are tied to one reactions only: Lunar-Charged for Flins, and Lunar-Bloom for Nefer. In other words, Flins need to have an Electro character as the second slot, Hydro character as the third slot, and a sustain or buffer in the last slot.

In Electro places, you knew Ineffa is the best one for Flins. She gave him buffs, shield, and also high personal damage. In addition, Ineffa as the second Nod-Krai character, can activate the Ascendant Gleam effect. Next would be Ororon, but be mindful that the buff from Cinder City artifacts does not benefit Flins at all because he doesn’t need the DMG Bonus. Then we have Iansan and Kuki. Iansan also uses Cinder City, but what’s better is she provides large ATK buff. However, Flins does not move too much since he usually would just stay one spot and spam attacks unless he needs to evade upcoming attacks, so he may not be able to get the full buffs. Kuki does not provide anything except healing, but you can put her on Fav Sword and Tenacity set for the Energy and ATK bonus.

Now to the Hydro slot; Aino is the best one here because she has short Burst CD, good Hydro off-field application, provide buffs, and activate Ascendant Gleam effect. Next, we got Furina with her high damage and good off-field Hydro application. But if you bring her, know that you don’t need to use Furina’s Burst because as we mentioned before, Flins does not benefit from Bonus DMG buff. Then we have Xingqiu and Yelan. Both of them as usual provides good Hydro application, but both have long CD for their Burst .

The last slot belongs to sustain/buffer, and right off the bat, Sucrose is the best for this slot because of the huge EM buff + VV set + TTDS catalyst for ATK buff that she will provide. Bennett and Xilonen will be in the next tier, with Bennett providing ATK bonus, and Xilonen with her Elemental RES Shred. Lan Yan is a bit similar to Sucrose, albeit a bit lower than the latter, but she can be used as a sustainer while also holding VV set and TTDS catalyst. However, note that C4 Lan Yan is better than C0 (obviously) because she will provide EM buff to the team.

Team Composition Examples

Flins Talent Priority

Burst > Lvl 90 > Skill

Flins main damage output comes from his Burst, so it’s natural to upgrade this one first. Next is (this isn’t talent but worth mentioning) to upgrade him to Level 90 to maximize his Lunar-Charged reaction damage. This does not affect his direct Lunar-Charged damage, but still a considerable amount of damage.
Lastly we have the Skill. Once Flins use his Skill, you will use his Normal ATK right? Yeah, that Normal ATK’s multipliers will be taken from the Skill as he enters the Manifest Flame form. So after upgrading Skill, you don’t need to level up his Normal ATK anymore.
