The upcoming theatrical anime, Etoile Blooming in Paris, is coming to Japanese theaters on March 13th, 2026. Its production committee just dropped an extended trailer to show what the film is all about:
Directed by Goro Taniguchi (ONE PIECE FILM RED) with character concepts by Katsuya Kondo (Ponyo, Kiki’s Delivery Service), and written by Reiko Yoshida (Violet Evergarden), this original film tells the story of two young girls chasing their dreams in early 20th century Paris. Animation is produced by ARVO Animation.
Set in Paris at the beginning of the 1900s, the story follows Fujiko, who dreams of becoming a painter despite expectations that she become a dutiful wife, and Chizuru, born into a samurai family and skilled with the naginata, yet drawn toward ballet. A chance reunion rekindles their childhood connection, and together they begin pursuing their aspirations in a foreign land.
Facing cultural barriers and personal struggles, the two girls navigate hardship, disappearance, and uncertainty as they chase their dreams in the City of Light.
