Few anime have redefined the art of the fight scene quite like Naruto. Whether you grew up with the series or are discovering it today, Naruto’s battles still hit in a way few shows can match.
They’re not just about who throws the hardest punch — they’re about the emotions behind the blows, the weight of years-long rivalries, and the dreams and regrets every character carries into the battlefield.
For this list, we’re not just picking the cleanest hand-to-hand fights or the most over-the-top animation showcases. We’re celebrating all kinds of iconic battles — whether it’s pure fists flying, heart-wrenching flashbacks mid-combat, or moments where a few quiet words hit harder than any jutsu.
We get it: sometimes you just want characters to throw hands with no talking. And sometimes, the flashbacks, memories, and meaning make the punches land even heavier.
These are 10 of the best Naruto fights that still hold up in 2025 — a mix of speed, strategy, heart, and storytelling that reminds us why Naruto remains legendary.
Table of Contents:
- 10. Naruto and Sasuke vs. Momoshiki
- 9. Sasuke vs. Itachi
- 8. Jiraiya vs. Pain
- 7. Kakashi vs. Obito
- 6. Naruto vs. Pain
- 5. Hashirama vs. Madara
- 4. Madara vs. The Shinobi Alliance
- 3. Gaara vs. Rock Lee
- 2. Minato vs. Obito
- 1. Naruto vs. Sasuke (Final Battle)
10. Naruto and Sasuke vs. Momoshiki
Even though it technically takes place in Boruto, Naruto and Sasuke teaming up against Momoshiki feels like a victory lap for longtime fans.
Their teamwork is so seamless it looks like choreography — swapping weapons mid-air, countering attacks without even speaking.
The animation is crisp, the stakes are high, and it reminds you just how legendary these two are when they fight side-by-side. It’s pure eye candy, and even years later, no major team-up fight feels quite as earned as this one.
9. Sasuke vs. Itachi
Few fights in Naruto had as much emotional weight as Sasuke vs. Itachi. Years of betrayal, secrets, and anger boiled over into one chilling confrontation.
On the surface, it’s a brutal battle of jutsu mastery — but underneath, it’s two brothers reaching the end of a tragic path.
The final reveal about Itachi’s true intentions still breaks hearts to this day. It’s a reminder that in Naruto, battles aren’t always about winning — sometimes they’re about setting someone free.
Plus, Itachi’s true powers are revealed and… boy was he super overpowered.
8. Jiraiya vs. Pain
Jiraiya’s final battle against Pain is one of the most soul-crushing moments in the entire series.
Unlike other big flashy fights, this one feels slow and methodical — a tactical chess match filled with dread. Watching Jiraiya realize the truth about Pain’s identity while fighting for his life is gut-wrenching.
His death isn’t just a loss for Naruto; it’s a turning point for the entire series. Even now, it’s hard not to get emotional seeing one of Konoha’s true legends fall with no regrets.
Jiraiya’s tactical genius was on full display here as we got to see he wasn’t some goofy perv or comic relief. Jiraiya was deadly here, and even Pain acknowledged as much and his his other paths on purpose and hesitated approaching him when he was down.
Still, this fight is so bittersweet because since we knew Pain was the leader of the Akatsuki, we knew Jiraiya wasn’t making out of this one. It was super sad, especially considering Tsunade had a hunch he would die and she lost her closest friend.
Plus, Jiraiya considered himself a colossal failure for not saving his teacher, the Third Hokage, his student Minato, and even his friend Orochimaru.
Yet, he did acknowledge Naruto as the Child of Prophecy and passed down the torch. This was a huge tear-jerker for me.
7. Kakashi vs. Obito
If you want pure hands, no talk, all pain — Kakashi vs. Obito delivers. No giant summons, no world-ending explosions. Just two former best friends throwing hands in one of the cleanest, most beautiful hand-to-hand animated sequences in anime history:
Kakashi isn’t as overpowered as his compatriots, but he had a reputation for throwing hands with no hesitation. He was clearly outmatched here and did his thing.
I always thought Kakashi was a top-three taijutsu user in this series behind Might Guy and Naruto and this battle shows why.
The way the fight cuts between their childhood friendship and their brutal adult battle still hits hard. It’s raw, personal, and tragically inevitable — and it proves you don’t need flashy powers to tell an unforgettable story.
6. Naruto vs. Pain
When Pain obliterated Konoha, it felt like all hope was lost. Then Naruto showed up — not as the goofy underdog, but as a full-fledged hero. Sage Mode Naruto taking on the Six Paths of Pain is one of the most hype-inducing moments in the entire series.
I remember watched this fight way back and laughing about how Sakura’s most powerful summon was Naruto, as she literally screamed his name as he appeared.
Naruto showing up with his three toads, the new cloak, the scroll on his back like Jiraiya, and curb-stombing the Asura Path will always be a top anime moment:
Every Rasengan, every counter, every emotional shout from Naruto carries the weight of years of growth. This wasn’t just Naruto fighting for his village — it was Naruto fighting for the future he believed in.
5. Hashirama vs. Madara
Long before the main story kicks off, Hashirama and Madara were shaping the future of the shinobi world with their godlike powers. Their battle is basically a flex-off of ridiculous proportions: gigantic wood dragons, perfect Susanoo, and terrain-changing jutsu.
But beneath the spectacle is a tragic story of friendship turned bitter rivalry. Hashirama’s overwhelming strength and Madara’s obsession with creating a perfect world clash in a fight that feels almost mythological.
Even today, this battle feels bigger than life itself.
I’m gonna leave the video to this fight below because how can you really quantify what Hashirama did to Madara in words.
He literally put the Nine Tails to sleep and battled Madara’s Susanoo with a smile. And Hashirama’s Sage Mode was just chef’s kiss:
Yeah, here’s the link:
4. Madara vs. The Shinobi Alliance
If you ever need a reminder that Madara Uchiha was built different, just rewatch him solo the entire Shinobi Alliance.
This episode was literally titled “Madara Uchiha”.
You just know the animators were excited to come to work for this one.
Watching him casually dodge hundreds of attacks, summon meteors, and destroy armies without breaking a sweat is pure anime dominance. It’s not even a fair fight — and that’s the point.
Everyone who took that total beatdown needs a plaque because they all knew who he was and got massacred anyway.
This scene cemented Madara as one of the greatest anime villains ever, and even now, it’s hard not to smile watching the sheer disrespect he shows an entire army.
3. Gaara vs. Rock Lee
The moment Rock Lee drops his ankle weights and the ground cracks? Legendary. Gaara vs. Rock Lee is the perfect showcase of what makes Naruto special: the underdog fighting against impossible odds with pure heart and skill.
Rock Lee’s raw speed and determination versus Gaara’s cold, crushing sand defenses created a dynamic clash that no one saw coming.
I remember watching this back on Cartoon Network (Toonami) and falling in love with Lee automatically. Everybody in that area (including Neji) shut up real quick when he opened those gates:
Even after all these years, it’s impossible not to get goosebumps watching Lee push past every limit he had — and still fall just short.
2. Minato vs. Obito
Speed. Precision. Pure tactical brilliance. Minato vs. Obito during the Nine-Tails attack is one of the smartest fights in anime history.
Watching Minato analyze Obito’s space-warping ability mid-battle and counter it flawlessly is like watching a grandmaster chess match at light speed. It’s short compared to other big battles, but every move matters.
Minato shows exactly why he was called the Yellow Flash — and why he was the only shinobi capable of turning an entire war with his presence alone.
And guess what, Minato fought this man believing he was Madara and still showed absolutely no fear.
Sure, this fight was short (not ironic considering who Minato is), but what a way to introduce Minato Namikaze: the Fourth Hokage.
One-shotting Obito was insane here as even at 16 he could wield the Nine Tails and was one of the only shinobi alive who gave Minato a challenge.
Still, Minato analyzed Obito’s jutsu instantly and prepared the perfect counter for him, a rare feat you only see genius ninja like Itachi, Kakashi, and Shikimaru pull off.
1. Naruto vs. Sasuke (Final Battle)
There could only be one number one. Naruto and Sasuke’s final battle at the Valley of the End isn’t just the best fight in Naruto — it’s one of the greatest fights in anime, period.
Every punch, every clash, every exhausted glare between them carries the weight of their entire lives.
It’s messy, brutal, and deeply human. No summons, no fancy transformations at the end — just two broken kids trying to prove their truth with their fists. It’s perfect. It’s timeless.
Now, I was pissed watching this because Sasuke dominated this fight and Naruto fought more on the defensive. Sure, Naruto didn’t want to kill Sasuke, but Sasuke had the best arsenal of jutsu in the entire damn show at this point.
He was the strongest Sharingan user in history, had the Rinnegan, Six Paths power, and crazy chakra reserves. Naruto spammed shadow clones and got his chakra taken, but he still pulled off some great gotcha moves like always with his fake-outs.
In any case, this was a battle of two heavyweights that ended in Naruto’s philisophy being vindicated, Sasuke being saved, and someone finally breaking the cycle of hatred.
A total masterpiece.
These are My Favorite Naruto Fights in 2025
The beauty of Naruto‘s battles isn’t just in their animation or flashy jutsu — it’s in the emotions that fuel every final stand.
Whether it’s Rock Lee proving himself against impossible odds, Minato outsmarting a world-ending threat, or Naruto and Sasuke bringing their lifelong rivalry to its devastating conclusion, these fights are timeless because they capture something real.
Even in 2025, Naruto‘s greatest fights still resonate. They remind us that strength isn’t just about power — it’s about heart, belief, and the bonds we fight for.
No matter how much anime evolves, Naruto‘s legacy of unforgettable battles will always stand tall.
