Bro, what in the Chrono Trigger-remake is this:

I was blessed by this video by my YouTube algorithm. It’s from the Tokyo Game Show 2025, showcasing the absolutely gorgeous HD-2D graphics, captivating storyline, and eye-catching battle mechanics.

The camera angles during special attacks, complex animations, and the constantly changing battle backgrounds tell me the devs put their foot in this game.

You can obviously see the ode to Chrono Trigger here, from the three-player ABS battle system, to the imagery of the Leene Square and the ticking clock.

The official website even says:

Threads of Time is a turn-based JRPG inspired by Chrono Trigger and Final Fantasy. Travel the ages with your party from the early prehistoric era to the far future in this charming, modernized 2.5D pixel art adventure built in Unreal Engine 5!

Now, we may not get a Chrono Trigger remake on this scale (The DS is the definitive version, but come on we can get another).

But this is really close and it’s still a very unique and charming project. This is just a preview into what the developers at Team Riyo are working on.

There is no official release date for this project, but we’ll keep you guys informed when that information becomes available.
