Based on the new trailer, the movie’s story will center on the “Dragon’s Blood” and the heavy burden of immortality. We see Wolf, the “one-armed wolf,” being told that those granted this power can return from death itself, setting up a narrative about why one chooses to live or die in such a brutal era. The PV also highlights the intense philosophy of the Ashina clan, reminding us that in this world, “Hesitation means defeat.” It looks like we’re in for a deep dive into the bond between Wolf and Kuro as they navigate a country with no guaranteed future.
What makes this project even more special is the commitment to traditional craft. The production team has confirmed that the entire film is being created with full hand-drawn 2D animation and will not use generative AI. Hearing Ryuichi Sakamoto’s “Blu” in the background of the trailer gives the Sengoku setting a legendary.
