Who is Trigger in ZZZ?
Trigger belongs to the Obol Squad and uses the Electric attribute. Her kit revolves around maintaining high Crit Rate to enhance Daze output and setting up stuns while off-field.
She functions best as a secondary DPS or Stun support who enables longer damage windows for the main carry.
Her passive, Harmonizing Shot, activates Aftershocks when allies perform actions, dealing Electric damage and building Daze on enemies.
This allows Trigger to remain efficient even when not on the field. Her kit rewards high Crit Rate, Impact, and timing synergy with your team’s bursts.
Trigger’s Role and Playstyle
Trigger’s role is centered around consistent off-field support. She builds up Purge through her Sniper Stance Basic Attack and unleashes Electric Aftershocks that pressure enemies while allies continue attacking.
When properly geared, she can stun enemies rapidly and make combat rotations smoother for the entire team.
Gameplay tips:
- Start combat by activating her Basic chain to charge Purge.
- Switch to your on-field DPS and let Trigger’s Aftershocks occur automatically.
- Keep her off-field as much as possible for stronger Impact stacks.
- Manage Crit Rate carefully since her performance scales directly with it.
She is not designed to be on-field for long periods, so avoid forcing her into the primary DPS role.
Best W-Engines for Trigger
Spectral Gaze is the ultimate W-Engine for Trigger.
And here is why.
Spectral Gaze (Signature W-Engine)
- Main stat: Crit Rate
- Effect: After dealing Electric Aftershock damage, reduces target DEF by 25% for 5 seconds. When off-field, gains Spirit Lock stacks (up to 3), each increasing Impact by 4%, reaching +12% at full stacks.
- Why it’s best: The combination of Crit Rate and Impact boost perfectly supports Trigger’s Daze and Aftershock scaling. It also synergizes with her off-field playstyle.
Alternative W-Engines
- The Restrained: Increases Impact, solid choice if you lack her signature weapon.
- Hellfire Gears: Adds Impact and Energy regen, suitable for early builds or energy-hungry teams.
If you cannot obtain Spectral Gaze, prioritize W-Engines that increase Impact and Crit Rate to maintain her core function as a Stun support.
Best Drive Disc Sets
The best drive disc sets for Trigger is 4-Piece Shockstar Disco and 4-Piece Shadow Harmony.
4-Piece Shockstar Disco
- 2-Piece Effect: +6% Impact.
- 4-Piece Effect: Increases Daze inflicted by Basic, Dash, and Dodge attacks by 20%.
This is the best overall option for maximizing Daze buildup and maintaining consistent stun uptime.
4-Piece Shadow Harmony
- Focuses on increasing Crit Rate during combat. Good alternative if your stats are low and you need additional Crit Rate to reach the 90% cap.
2-Piece Combinations
If you do not have full sets, use:
- 2-Piece Shockstar Disco (+6% Impact)
- 2-Piece Woodpecker Electro (+8% Crit Rate)
These mixed sets help balance Crit Rate and Daze power until you secure the ideal 4-piece configuration.
Drive Disc Stats Priority
This is really important. Make sure you tune these slots with the following stats to really get the best use out of Trigger.
- Slot 4: Crit Rate main stat
- Slot 5: Electric DMG or ATK%
- Slot 6: Impact main stat
- Substats Priority: Crit Rate → Crit DMG → ATK% → PEN → ATK
Crit Rate Target
Trigger’s Additional Ability converts excess Crit Rate above 40% into Daze damage.
Her goal is to reach approximately 90% Crit Rate to fully maximize her Stun potential. Use the combination of W-Engine, Drive Discs, and substats to reach that threshold.
Skill Upgrade Priority
Once you’ve built out Trigger’s W-Engine and drive discs, turn your attention to these skills in the following order:
- Core Skill: Boosts Stun vulnerability multiplier and Daze buildup. Always upgrade this first.
- Basic Attack: Increases Aftershock damage and Purge charge rate.
- Ultimate / EX Special Attack: Adds more burst damage and coordinated attack windows.
- Dodge / Assist Skills: Upgrade last for marginal benefits.
Focus on her Core and Basic skills first since they define her overall efficiency and off-field value.
Team Compositions
Trigger’s strength lies in her off-field Daze generation and Electric synergy. In version 2.3, she sits firmly as one of the top stun supports in the game, pairing best with fast on-field attackers who can consistently trigger her Aftershocks.
She fits comfortably in both premium and free-to-play Electric teams, thriving in any composition that allows her to stay off-field while allies maintain pressure.
Meta Team: Anby / Trigger / Astra Yao
- Main DPS: Anby Demara – A fast, on-field Electric attacker who keeps enemies under constant pressure. Anby’s frequent hits trigger Aftershocks from Trigger, maintaining near-constant Daze uptime.
- Off-field Support: Trigger – Provides Electric Aftershocks and DEF reduction through her W-Engine, amplifying Anby’s damage output. Her consistent stun windows make this team rotation feel seamless.
- Support / Buffer: Astra Yao – Delivers Crit Rate and ATK buffs to both Anby and Trigger. Her ability to boost Electric DMG helps the team’s overall burst potential.
- Bangboo: Plugboo – Enhances Electric DMG and complements Trigger’s passive shock cycles.
Why it works: This is currently Trigger’s most optimized meta lineup. The combination of Anby’s aggressive on-field play, Trigger’s off-field Daze pressure, and Astra’s Crit Rate synergy allows for fluid rotations and reliable stuns throughout combat.
Alternative Meta Team: Yanagi / Trigger / Miyabi
- Main DPS: Yanagi – Excels in hybrid Daze and Anomaly setups, capitalizing on Stun windows created by Trigger.
- Off-field Support: Trigger – Supplies Electric stuns and DEF shred while staying off-field.
- Sub-DPS / Utility: Miyabi – Adds Anomaly build-up and crowd control to extend Stun durations.
- Bangboo: Electroboo – Ideal for maintaining Electric buffs and prolonging coordinated attacks.
Why it works: This hybrid team balances Anomaly and Stun playstyles. Trigger’s Electric Daze pairs well with Miyabi’s AOE coverage, while Yanagi stays in front to deliver heavy hits during stun periods. It’s not as burst-heavy as Anby’s team but provides strong sustained control and reliability in tougher encounters.
Free-to-Play Team: Anby / Trigger / Nicole Demara
- Main DPS: Anby Demara – Still performs well without premium supports, handling fast combos that activate Trigger’s Aftershocks.
- Off-field Support: Trigger – Provides Daze, Electric damage, and crowd control for smoother rotations.
- Support / Utility: Nicole Demara – Offers grouping and crowd control to cluster enemies, letting Trigger’s Electric Aftershocks hit multiple targets.
- Bangboo: Electroboo – Easy to obtain and maintains Electric synergy for both Trigger and Anby.
Why it works: This accessible lineup focuses on coordination and simplicity. Even without Astra or Grace, the combination of Anby and Trigger ensures reliable Stun uptime and solid Electric performance. Nicole’s crowd control allows the team to clean up grouped targets efficiently, maximizing Trigger’s multi-hit Aftershock damage.
Best Bangboos
Trigger’s best Bangboos are Plugboo (1st) and Electroboo (2nd). Not hard to see why since Trigger is an Electric Stun type.
Plugboo
Boosts Electric DMG for Trigger and teammates, enhancing her Aftershock impact.
Electroboo
Provides additional Electric synergy and helps maintain consistent off-field damage.
Both options complement her Electric element and are reliable choices depending on availability.
How to Use Trigger in ZZZ
Using Trigger in your lineup is actually really easy.
Here is how I would use her along with my entire lineup (with Anby and Astra Yao).
- Trigger performs best when kept off-field after setting up Purge.
- Use her Sniper Stance to charge up before switching to your main DPS.
- Keep her rotation in sync with your DPS burst windows to align Aftershocks with maximum damage.
- Focus on Crit Rate substats, as failing to hit the target range will reduce her Daze scaling significantly.
- Position your team strategically so that her Aftershocks hit groups of enemies for faster stun cycles.

Is Trigger Worth Pulling?
Trigger is an excellent addition to any Electric-focused team. Her ability to stay off-field while contributing to Daze buildup and team DPS makes her one of the most flexible support-style agents in Zenless Zone Zero.
Pull Trigger if:
- You already have a strong Electric DPS who benefits from Daze uptime.
- You prefer smoother team rotations with consistent off-field support.
- You can invest in Crit Rate gear and her signature W-Engine.
Skip Trigger if:
- You lack Electric characters to pair her with.
- You prefer high on-field DPS agents.
- You cannot currently invest in high-end W-Engines or Drive Discs.
Trigger Build Guide: My Final Thoughts
Trigger’s build revolves around three pillars: high Crit Rate, off-field uptime, and Impact stacking.
When these are optimized, she becomes one of the best Stun support agents in Zenless Zone Zero. Even without her signature weapon, she remains viable for Electric team compositions and coordinated burst setups.
If you enjoy teams with layered synergy and consistent control, Trigger deserves a spot in your lineup. I’ll continue testing her performance in future patches and update this guide once new Drive Discs or team options become available.
