The fifth season of the TV anime Rent-a-Girlfriend, which covers the second cour of the Hawaiians arc, will begin airing in April 2026 on the “Animeism” programming block and other channels. Alongside the broadcast announcement, the project has also released the first key visual for the upcoming season.
Kinoshita Kazuya is a hopeless college student who introduced his innocent and lovely “rental” girlfriend, Mizuhara Chizuru, to his family and friends as his “real” girlfriend. Unable to admit it was a lie, Kazuya continues their “fake” relationship, but as they overcome various events together, his “real” feelings for Chizuru gradually grow stronger. After successfully crowdfunding a film production, Kazuya finally decides to “commit” to Chizuru. Meanwhile, his somewhat forceful girlfriend (provisional name), Sarashina Ruka, is approaching Kazuya more aggressively than ever…! What’s more, Kazuya’s devilish ex-girlfriend, Nanami Asami, who knows about Kazuya and Chizuru’s “true” relationship, suddenly gets close to Chizuru, creating a tense situation! Everyone around him gets involved, and the story heats up even more! And the stage moves to Hawaiians!!
As a fan, I’m really hoping this is the season where the relationship between Kazuya and Chizuru finally becomes clear. It’s been a long journey, and I hope Kazuya finds the courage to finally confess his true feelings to her.
However, the drama is definitely peaking. I’m incredibly curious to see what kind of strategy Asami will use to tear them apart, especially since she’s seen in the trailer questioning the “wrongness” of their situation and claiming there was never any real love to begin with. Since this fifth season covers the second cour of the Hawaiians arc, we are heading straight into the “Last Rental Life”!
