Bandai Namco have announced a brand-new Digimon Story Time Stranger DLC slated for release in 2027 and a new mobile game, Digimon Up, coming sometime in 2026.

Digimon Story Time Strangerโ€™s upcoming DLC have got fans excited about a major story & content expansion coming to one of the most well-received Digimon titles to date.

Fans were mixed on the already released DLC for the game mainly because the short episodes and added Digimon (solely Evolutions might I add) left a lot to be desired.

The reviews on Steam showcased that the Season Pass content for all 3 DLCs were not well-received and left fans feeling like the price (half the cost of the main game) didnโ€™t match up to what the DLC offered.

For now, we donโ€™t have any other details about the DLC since the devs are essentially announcing that itโ€™s in active development, but considering the DLC is slated for a 2027 release, I expect that this will be larger expansion content with new characters, Digimon, and areas to explore than current DLC content.

Though we still have a long way till the DLC releases, to make up for it, Bandai Namco also simultaneously announced a brand-new mobile game coming to iOS and Android โ€“ Digimon Up.

Digimon Up is releasing some time in 2026 and we donโ€™t have a release date as yet.

But based on the short trailer, we can speculate on what kind of title it is. We see that the game will feature both Digimon Cards and Digivices, and the ability to feed and raise your Digimon to Digivolve emโ€™. There also seems to be a battle system of some sort, so we can do something with the Digimon we train and care for.

Aside from the trailer, not much else is known about Digimon Up. I wouldnโ€™t be surprised if thereโ€™s some form of gacha included, but for now, it seems like a great mix of digital-pet/Tamagotchi elements, with a hopefully intriguing PvP battle system to round things off.

That said, Digimon Story Time Stranger is still an excellent addition to the Digimon franchiseโ€™s growing content library and Iโ€™m honestly excited to see what the devs come up with when they have a broader, more โ€˜fullโ€™ DLC expansion to deliver. Though, it might be a good idea to pass on the current Season Pass for now.

Still, Digimon fans are eatinโ€™ good for the next year or two.

Digimon Story Time Stranger is developed by Media Vision Inc. and published by Bandai Namco Entertainment Inc., and is available on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S with a Nintendo Switch release coming on July 10th, 2026.

When he’s not crafting compelling gaming & anime stories or gadget reviews, he’s watching anime, on a Netflix binge, or jumping back into a plentiful backlog of games. Seriously, someone, stop him. No, seriously. He has too many games. Oh wait, is that on sale? Enjoys: checking out new apps & games, impulse buying new gadgets, and short walks on the beach.
